Description of the role
You will be part of a small multi-disciplinary team containing programme, quality assurance, production, support and system, software, firmware and infrastructure engineers supporting knowledge transfer and technology transfer within the United Arab Emirates, as well as supporting product evolution in line with UAE needs.

Your focus will be to maintain excellent customer relationships and to be able to part of the team delivering knowledge transfer and Emiritisation programmes during the early phases as well as defining and preparing support infrastructure requirements as the product prepares for entry into service. 

The Engineering team must be led by a talented, highly motivated and experienced engineering professional to further develop and execute the technical roadmap.

Tasks

The Technical Manager is accountable to the Programme lead and is responsible for performance of the engineering activities, including relevant technical, quality, schedule and cost aspects. The Technical manager ensures resource demands are communicated to the various disciplines and that work packages are staffed to meet project commitments. The job holder should be the technical authority to the program, customer, partners, suppliers and regulatory agencies.

• Drives the overall technical execution of development and the related work packages under his/her leadership.
• Guides and directs all engineering disciplines
• Ensures program scope is understood, and identifies overall budgetary needs for successful engineering work packages execution.
• Helps drive execution and performance measurements of the delivery process to ensure all program requirements and objectives are met on schedule and within the authorized budget.
• Ensures and maintains active support to production function.
• Works actively with the Programme manager to ensure overall program milestones and master schedules are met.
• Ensures development of a schedule for program technical reviews, and leads design reviews.
• Executes the program in accordance with Organisation Ethics and Compliance Policies.
• Review and approval of formal program technical communication and documentation with customer.
• Ensures the development and management of technical risks and develop and executes mitigation plans.
• Ensures requirements standard work is executed, and all technical requirements are met, and successful integration is achieved with the customer’s system.
• Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR and similar regulations in technical communication and data control
• Ensures the protection of customer and supplier/partner intellectual property.
• Continue to foster an environment which encourages and supports innovation.

Essential Skills

• Experience in the following areas:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering domain and 10 years of prior relevant experience
• In absence of a degree, 15 years of relevant experience is required
• Previous demonstrable experience leading a team of >10 engineers.
• Experience of quality and assurance management processes.
• Knowledge and understanding of technologies relevant to Satellite Modem technology is highly desirable.
• Experience of R&D/R&T activities is highly desirable.
• Experience of production activities is highly desirable.

Desirable Skills

• In addition to the essential skills the following is desirable:
• Awareness of product / service support requirements
• Working knowledge of Airbus and (Yahsat) customer organisation
