Job Description

Assists with the writing, editing, and development of technical publication supplements, including but not limited to, illustrated parts catalogs, maintenance manuals, wiring diagram manuals, maintenance task cards, and engineering drawings. Must have the ability to create, assimilate, and convey technical material in a concise and effective manner. Simplify complex concepts or processes to maximize reader comprehension.

Will also be responsible for:

• Interacts in a professional manner with external and internal customers to ensure accuracy of information in technical publication supplements.
• Creates and implements changes to technical publication supplements using the technical publication documentation system.
• Assists in the review of Engineering Orders and drawings/data to identify what revisions to technical publications are required.
• Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Assist in laying out material for publication.
• Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequence in detail.
• Coordinates with maintenance, engineering, or planning departments to research required changes and ensure the accuracy of the changes to technical publications.
• Utilizes consistent format for technical publication supplements, work orders, and drawings through editing and standardizing of material prepared by SAE, QA and other contributors.
• Assist Engineering Management with additional tasks when additional business needs arise.
• Prepares required documentation in an appropriate format.
• Analyzes the data and user requirements to ensure that documentation is clear, concise, and valid.
• Performs substantive editing that ensures document organization and quality.
• Ensures that documents follow the appropriate style guide.
• Assist with overall quality of manual sets including manual content and all control documents.
• Develop dynamic online forms.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the technical documentation based on the project and client requirements.
• Research and review engineering drawings and related technical data, determine their effect on aircraft technical manuals and publications such as IPC.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION

•  - FAA A&P license preferred
  • AA, AS in technical or scientific field.
  • Equivalent and related experience may be substituted.

EXPERIENCE

•  - Minimum of 3 years technical writing experience
  • Aviation Procedure/Regulation experience and international aviation standards preferred.
  • Must be familiar with aircraft technical manuals such as IPC, AMM, and CMM.
  • Familiar with inspection techniques, Aviation Specifications and Regulations.
