Job Description


  • Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for technical and operational support in the installation, application and maintenance of unmanned aerial vehicle electronic equipment to include ground control stations, ground data terminals and ground support equipment in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions and technical orders, procedures and regulations. Conducts technical analysis and evaluation of product implementation to ensure customer specifications are met. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues and determines solutions to a wide variety of difficult problems.
    Assist the Avionics Supervisor to accomplish aviation unit, and intermediate maintenance inspections, services, and repairs on all the instruments and avionics systems on the aircraft.

    Will also be responsible to:

    Repairs, replaces, and performs operational/functional tests on instruments, radios, navigation and electronic aircraft flight control equipment, avionics systems.
    2. Troubleshoots equipment and traces avionic equipment wiring harnesses using technical manuals and schematic drawings to diagnose and isolate faults and effect repairs.
    3. Maintain ground control station (GCS) and participate in power up and ground checks.
    4. Diagnose malfunctions using special and common hand tools, test measurement and diagnostic equipment.
    5. Corrects minor discrepancies by removal, repair, or replacement of defective or deleted parts of aircraft electrical and electronic systems.
    6. Fabricates, upgrades, routes, and installs wiring harnesses.
    7. Requisition aircraft parts, and maintain shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft avionics equipment.
    8. Performs high level troubleshooting and repair of ground and airborne electronic equipment. Utilizes product knowledge, sound judgment and logical reasoning to determine technical solutions complex problems.
    9. Interfaces with engineering, manufacturing, and other disciplines of UAV operators, Army personnel and civilian customers when required.
    10. Complete, Inspects and prepares forms and records in accordance with OEM and AFAD regulations
    11. Train host national personnel on the proper maintenance of the avionics/instrument systems.
    12. Responsible for tools and equipment inventory assigned by the supervisor.
    13. Works under limited supervision providing technical expertise in installing and troubleshooting avionics systems.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned or directed

QUALIFICATION

  • A two-year technical degree or trade school or military training /education equivalency
    - Formal avionics training course from an accredited military or civilian aeronautical school.
    - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics and technical orders;
    - Strong analytical skills.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 Years Must have a minimum of 5 years working with civilian or military aircraft avionics and instrument systems.
    - Preferably with at least 2 years of UAV systems experience.
