Job Description

  • Areas of responsibility include the aircraft, ground station, ground support equipment, systems updates due to obsolescence, support to field sites, support to OEM contractor sites for program reviews, system reviews, testing and evaluation along with establishing strong productive working relationships with stakeholders and team members. Familiarity of the following systems is desired: unmanned system command and control, software, radar, electrical optical/infrared payloads, weapons systems, special payloads, flight controls, system safety.

    Will also be responsible to:

    Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Engineer responsible for evaluation, testing, integration, analysis and rapid fielding of new and emerging UAS technologies.
    2. Responsible to monitor and advise the UAS Operations Manager of problems, trends and all issues affecting the future operations.
    3. Performs technical/mission analyses of existing and future operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts, and perform technological/trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications.
    4. Provides rapid response engineering service and support as augmentation to organic resources through in-depth problem identification, impact assessment, and development of corrective actions for critical supportability problems.
    5. Reviews new and revised technical data and different SB’s , TD’s for completeness, accuracy and applicability
    6. Maintain aircraft electronic equipment, ground station, ground support equipment, systems updates due to obsolescence, support to field sites, and support to OEM contractor.
    7. Interface thoroughly with engineering team, internal program and representatives, and customer as required
    8. Assures the submission of the Quality Deficiency Reports when required and for the Quality Control assistance during all the aircraft incidents and accidents.
    9. Assures the proper oversight and implementation of all the aircraft systems modifications
    10. Ensures proper documentation has been completed and sign offs performed.
    11. Ensure aircraft FOD prevention Tool Control and other safety procedures are being adhered to.
    12. Record test or report procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and make recommendations for changes.
    13. Assists with Incident Investigation Evaluation and Reporting Procedures
    14. Performs other duties as assigned or directed

QUALIFICATION

  • - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of engineering with special emphasis on electrical and electronic engineering, Mechatronics engineering.
    - Knowledge and working experience with SATCOM and LOS communications and Frequency management planning
    - Must have current and valid documentation showing type of training or a completion of a formal training course from an accredited military or civilian aeronautical school.
    - Military training school graduate preferred but not required.
    - Knowledge of ISO 9001-2015 and AS9100 QMS is preferable.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience maintaining avionics systems, Electrical Optic systems, Communication systems.
    - Proven ability to work independently, and provide insight to system level problems and to propose solutions, present technical problems and status to program.
    - Experience in one or more of the following technology areas are highly desirable: Avionics hardware systems, commercial and military data busses, software design, development and management, real-time systems, or system test and validation.
