Job Description

The main job of Aircraft Apprentice Cat A Mechanic is to Learn on the job and accumulate as much experience and   practical   knowledge   as   possible,   work   as   per   the   guidelines   and   instructions   of   his   Lead Mechanic/Mechanic, to Develop decision making, analyzing and troubleshooting skills while on the job, and to deliver work to the highest possible standards and the best of his abilities in preparation to become a full-fledged aircraft mechanic with  necessary QCAA CAT "A" License.

Accountabilities

Operational

• Participatein Maintenance tasks as directed by Lead Mechanic/Mechanic
• Participatein tasks allocated to him/her and seeks guidance in any area or task he/she is not familiar with.
• Participatefor servicing, cleaning & greasing moving parts,
• Participatein reading and interpreting approved maintenance data.
• Performother department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Shift Manager.

Additional Accountabilities

• Ensure the Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic Logbook has been kept update with daily work assignments.
• It  is  an imperative  part of the Aircraft  Apprentice  Cat "A"  Mechanic  programme  that  he/she  develops  the  hands-on experience to enable them to fulfil the responsibilities of a Licensed Aircraft Mechanic.
• Aircraft Apprentice Cat "A" Mechanic will be assigned to Base Maintenance for 24 months On the Job Training in shifts and will be a member of the shift and one of the shift's working team.
• The  Aircraft  Apprentice   Cat  "A"  Mechanic  will  be  assigned  to  work  and  work  with   experienced   Mechanics  and Technicians  so that he/she gains the hands-on experience  required to understanding, systems and structures they are working on.
• The Aircraft Apprentice Cat "A" Mechanic shall carry out the tasks in the same manner as the mechanics.  and will not act as observer,  but will  physically  carry  out  tasks  assigned  to  him/her under  the  observation  and  supervision  of experienced  mechanics.
• The Aircraft  Apprentice  Cat "A"  Mechanic  will   ensure that removed  components  are correctly  handled,  labelled  and blanked,
• The Aircraft Apprentice Cat "A" Mechanic will ensure the required QCAA/EASA Part 66 Appendix II items are completed within the 24 months OJT period.
• The Aircraft Apprentice Cat "A" Mechanic will ensure QCAA Form 19 for license application is completed on time and submitted to QA at the end of the 24 months On the Job Training period.
• Aircraft Apprentice Cat "A" Mechanic Continuous Performance Assessment and attendance monitoring will be carried out at one month interval by the Shift Manager and the Practical/OJT Manager.
• Near completion of the 24 months On the Job Training, OJT programme assessment reports will be reviewed by VP Base or Line and recommendation for permanent job placement will be made to HR.

Data Protection

• Ensure that any personal data obtained and processed is treated in accordance with data protection principle followed by the group as well as applicable group policies and procedures on data protection and information security.
• Consult the group’s data protection officer(DPO) Office prior to making decisions on the processing, storage, retention and deletion of professional data with regards to responding to subject access requests (SARs), conducting data protection impact assessment (DPIAs) and identifying any personal data breach. If there is no policy and procedure that provides adequate guidance.

Operational Safety

• Ensure full awareness of work health and safety requirements and expectations in order to minimize health and safety risks for self and colleagues.
• Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to guarantee employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service with a responsible environmental attitude.
• Take a direct and personal interest in reported injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards to ensure that appropriate reporting, investigation and response is being achieved.

Environmental Competencies

Aware:

• Aware of general environmental principles and tools and assist your department in achieving Qatar Airways Group Environmental Objectives and targets.

Qualifications:

Essential

• The candidate should have studied and completed  high school studies from a High School in  Qatar or should have obtained high school certificate  recognized by the State of Qatar with  at least 70% overall  High School  average
• The candidate has completed the CAT "A" Mechanics training of 370 hrs Of academic and 680 hrs. Of Practical + 280 hrs. Of Practical Working Experience (Approx.1 year).
• Successfully graduated with both QCAA/EASA CAT "A" Certificate of Recognition for training.
• Have a minimum IELTS of 6, with not less than 5.5 in each part of the exam (writing/reading/listening/speaking).

Previous Experience:

• Entry level - no prior job-related work experience required

Essential

• 0-2 year’s work experience is acceptable as well as fresh Graduates.
• Ability to engage with a diverse workforce in multicultural environment.
• Experience    in meeting objectives and delivering on time projects and initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to defined tight timescales.
