Job Description

Job Purpose

To deliver the designated aeronautical information services across any of GANS airports to ensure information necessary for the safety, regularity and efficiency of air navigation services is provided without interruption and delay
 

Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities

"1. Provide the designated AIS services in accordance with National and/or International and ANS Departmental standards, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, directives or instructions and appropriate to customer requirements
2. Coordinate and process all corrections/updates of Aeronautical Publications for GANS Airports 
3. Collect, collate and analyse aeronautical information to ensure it is accurate and up to date for dissemination and publication to ensure safety
4. Monitor AIS facilities, equipment or systems to ensure applicable safety standards are adhered to at all times
5. Support the PANS Ops team in analysing and processing no objection certificate (NOC) applications to support aerodrome safeguarding activities 
6. Participate in the meetings, tasks and trainings related to aerodrome safeguarding activities to ensure compliance and to remain up to date with the changes 
7. Promote Aviation Safety Management System and Quality Management System across all aspects of AIS for compliance to Civil Aviation regulations 
8. Identify and report any safety risks in accordance with the Safety Management System 
9. Provide on the job training and instruction to designated staff to ensure they remain equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills 
10. Review and address AIS audits observations and findings to ensure that the agreed best practice operational standards, rules and procedures are implemented across AIS operations
11. Support the transition process from AIS to AIM in accordance with the provisions of the ICAO roadmap and CAA guidelines whilst ensuring compliance at all times 
12. Perform additional responsibilities related to AIS delegated from time to time to meet operational requirements
13. Safety responsibilities and accountabilities of this position are detailed in the Safety Management Manual of the organization. The Job holder is required to maintain awareness and knowledge in relation to their safety responsibilities associated with their job function"
 
Technical Competencies
Educational Qualification:
• Higher secondary school in a Science discipline required 
 
Professional Certifications:
• ICAO-recognized AIS course (Basic or Advanced) or equivalent
• PANS Ops certification preferred 
• AutoCAD certification required
• Aerodrome Safeguarding Certification required
 
Experience:
• 3 years experience in a similar role  
 
Special Technical Skills:
• English Language proficiency required. 
• Knowledge of the following required: 
• Rules and regulations regarding flight planning, NOTAM, Aeronautical Information Publication 
• AIM, ATC and operational procedures, standards maintenance, recruitment and training procedures
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of the AIXM exchange model and relevant software
• Applicable CAA regulations
• Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
• AIS Safety & Risk Management
• AIS Compliance
• Flight Information
• AIS Communication & Coordination
• AIS Technical Documentation
