Job Description

As an Assistant Lead Engineer in within the electrical balance of plant (eBoP) team, in the Grid & eBoP Integration department, you will be a part of a highly skilled team, with focus on main significant components such as Capacitor Banks, STATCOM and Synchronous Condensers as our core but you might also be exposed to hybrid electrical components such as Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage (BES) and Power-to-X (PtX) solutions for Vestas Hybrid Power Plants. We have team members with both senior expertise from transmission system operators, highly skilled academia- and long industry background. This position is placed in Chennai, India. You will also have close colleagues in Denmark and Portugal. Responsibilities

  • Take part in qualification of 3rd party vendor components
  • Undertake generic updates of our hybrid Technical Purchase Specification (TPS)
  • Support technical vendor dialogues with relevant companies in the industry
  • Coordinate and align with internal stakeholders in relation to qualification
  • Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Tech lead assignments in various R&D projects
  • Interface with colleagues from our internal value chain and Vestas sales organization
  • Develop new and improve existing company standards on dynamic components
  • Carrying out R&D projects related to various eBoP assets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's / Master's in Electrical / Similar specialization
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated technical accomplishments professional experience
  • Have a documented experience in supervising and working through other engineers, including scoping projects and setting direct for smaller teams
  • Have a previous experience with planning and designing eBoP systems and be motivated to work within renewable power plants R&D
  • Possess a solid understanding of concepts like renewable power plant design, system definition & analysis
  • Have a general knowledge of wind power plants, SVCs, STATCOMs, diesel/gas-gensets, synchronous condensers and other emerging main electrical components for hybrid renewable power plants
  • Have worked on Tech Specs and project documentation as a good to have
  • Worked on R&D projects following stage-gate development processes
  • Worked with Grid operators, Power generators, Utilities, Grid consulting companies, or eBoP components manufacturers etc

Competencies

  • An understanding of hybrid power plants, their design and grid interconnection
  • Developing modular design concept for hybrid power plants
  • Support the technology outlook within our field and inputs to our R&D roadmap
  • Approach situations in a pragmatical manner
  • Communicate in English at a high level both verbally and in writing
  • Experience using the major power system simulation tools such as PowerFactory, PSS/E and PSCAD.
  • Been working in a team utilizing Agile processes
  • Enjoy delivering results, both separately and through others
  • Collaborate and work well in a multi-cultural environment
