Job Description

Vestas Power Solutions is an independent business unit within Vestas Wind Systems A/S responsible for product design including full profit and loss accountability for our products. Through innovation, development, and continuous product improvement we develop the products and technologies that reduce the cost of energy and bring the highest possible value to our customers.
The Hub module, as a part of the Vestas Power Solutions, is responsible for delivering motivated Hub units into the wind turbines of the future. Within the Hub module, the Hub Structure sub-module holds the end-to-end ownership and responsibility for the development of some of the key structural components.
Our team is international and spread across sites in Denmark, India, and Portugal. With the current position we are now looking for strengthening our development engineering team in Chennai, India.

 

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and handling of quality problems, concessions, and non-conformity requests
  • Perform and contribute to Root Cause Analyses (i.e. RCAs)
  • Perform structural analysis to evaluate possible root causes on components
  • Provide inputs for Test and Verification activities
  • Evaluate results, propose, and implement corrective actions accordingly
  • Update design guidelines and Design Failure Mode Analyses based on findings

 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D / Master's / Bachelor's in Mechanical/Structural/Civil/Aerospace/Similar engineering
  • 3-7 years of experience in mechanical / Structural design quality
  • Experience solving quality cases, concessions, and non-conformity issues
  • Experience in design of bolted joints and fasteners, casted and steel plate structures
  • Static Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in Ansys and comfortable running fracture mechanical evaluations
  • 6 sigma green-belt / Black-belt is a added advantage

 

Competencies

  • Quickly pick up on the array of software tools and processes we currently use in our workflow
  • Have a good understanding of CAD modelling to make small modifications to existing CAD models
  • Efficiently communicate with CAD designers & quickly deep dive into existing quality issues
  • Are committed to advancing the state-of-the art in Wind Turbine simulation technology
  • Like to work with complex engineering problems and have a creative approach to new role
  • Have good communication skills and are fluent in English (speaking and writing)
  • Black belt/green belt and Agile development methodologies and tools (Scrum),
  • Proficient in statistical toolboxes (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Minitab)
