Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development and support of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies, products, and services. Boeing Research & Technology-India is part of Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC, based in Bangalore) focused on innovation, and developing and transitioning new technologies in support of Boeing products and services. We work across the complete product lifecycle of Boeing's commercial aircraft, military aircraft, rotorcraft, space vehicles, UAVs, and advanced vehicle prototypes.

The Boeing Research & Technology India team has an immediate opening for an Associate Measurement System Engineer. This position will be responsible for writing and automating code to analyze data in a measurement environment. The majority of tasks within this role are software related. This specific group within BR&T is responsible for research and technology for measurement technology. This role is for the measurement team that researches and develops tools and processes which can be put into an operational environment and apply measurement technology for different programs. In addition, the team analyzes 3D measurement data.

This position will be based out of Bangalore, India and will work with other colleagues located in India, United States and other global locations. This position will report to the Manager – AI, Analytics & Automation. This position may require occasional (10%) travel within India and internationally.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develops software and algorithms to support integration of measurement technologies into production systems
• Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products
• Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate
• Working closely & collaboratively with an international team comprising software development and research engineers. Develop and maintaining relationships / partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and execute on projects.
• Help in the adoption of new tools and technology, perform Proof-of-concepts and help engagements implement & take it over.
• Documenting results of research and development projects, and provide inputs for periodic updates to in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents. Tracking and evaluating performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and project requirements
• Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements

Basic Qualifications (essential requirements a candidate MUST have to qualify for the position):

• Masters (minimum required) or PhD degree from an accredited university in Computer science/Engineering/Applied Mathematics from a Tier 1/reputed academic institution.
• 4+ years of overall work experience with 2+ years in engineering software development and testing.
• Expertise in software development / programming in any of Python (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas) or C++ 
• Experience with mathematic skills such as linear algebra, 3D geometry, numerical methods, and computational methods
• Excellent presentation & communication skills: Demonstrate strong written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and familiar with MS Office tools.
• Strong research background in innovating & developing technologies & solutions

Desired Technical Skills:

• Strong technical knowledge of source code management and continuous integration/delivery processes and tools like GitLab. 
• Experience with software development practices such as clean code and test driven development
• Knowledge of Linux operating system (RHEL, Ubuntu) and shell scripting  
• Experience working with and post-processing point cloud data in C++/Python/MATLAB
• Be a self-starter who is not afraid to pro-actively seek information and direction to successfully complete the statement of work.
• Be self-motivated and able to work independently with a positive attitude and highest ethics.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world.

Typical Education & Experience:

• Technical Master’s degree or PhD degree with typically 4+ years related work experience.
