Job Description

Job Purpose

To supervise on-shift teams and take all necessary actions to maintain safe, orderly and expeditious operational air traffic control (ATC) services during the designated shift

Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

• Deliver safe and efficient air traffic control services throughout the designated shift ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures, instructions, and notices (ATSOM, CARs, DOC4444 etc.)

• Allocate duties to the shift staff to ensure all sectors are adequately manned during the shift period and due diligence is taken in distributing the workload

• Open operational positions/sectors in good time to avoid delays and service disruptions to operators

• Provide inputs based on expertise and understanding of the traffic to ensure any additional manpower is acquired in time

• Monitor the shift staff to ensure that they remain focused and perform designated duties to the required standards

• Take necessary measures to ensure that the handover to the next shift is conducted in a smooth and organized manner including communication of instructions, NOTAMs etc.

• Identify, report and investigate significant incidents during the shift period such as non-compliance, emergencies and loss of separation, to the relevant parties promptly for timely action

• Act in a professionally responsible manner as the representative of GANS ANS Management ensuring compliance to the applicable rules & regulations at all times

• Identify any performance gaps amongst the shift staff and provide necessary guidance and direction to ensure the individual(s) for optimal efficiency

• Perform any additional responsibilities that may arise from time to time to meet customer and organizational requirements

• Safety responsibilities and accountabilities of this position are detailed in the Safety Management Manual of the organization. The Job holder is required to maintain awareness and knowledge in relation to their safety responsibilities associated with their job function"

Technical Competencies

Educational Qualification:

• High secondary school

Professional Certifications:

• Approach Control Non-Radar (ICAO 053), or Approach Control Surveillance Radar (ICAO 054) required

• Validation of Approach control ratings

• Current Class 3 aviation medical or equivalent required

• OJTI course certificate preferred

• Local Competency Examiner or ATC Examiner endorsements preferred

• ICAO Level 4 English Language proficiency

Experience:

• 5 years of operational controlling experience

• 2 years’ experience in air traffic services at a medium complexity operational unit required
