Job Description

Job Purpose

"To assist with and be responsible for the design, development and delivery of suitable training and operational instructions (wherever applicable) to ensure the safe, expeditious and orderly delivery of all ATC services at the designated airport/airspace in line with the applicable regulations and contractual terms and obligations.
 
To provide On Job Training for Students, ATCOs & ATCAs who require specific unit-based training such as bridging courses, Emergency Continuation Training, trialing new ATC procedures and airspace designs, and when required carrying out impact assessments. "
 

Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of applicable regulations and support the respective Training Manager to ensure the unit remains compliant with regulations.
Prepare soft/hard copies for all aspects of initial and renewal of CoCs and other related standards checks as directed by the respective Manager/Head to ensure required documentation meets the regulatory requirements (wherever applicable).
Assist the Training Manager in compiling and analyzing training needs for new projects and operational training requirements in order to establish training plans and schedules.
Conduct initial and annual ATCO, OJTI, LCE/ Examiner & ATS Training Specialist assessments/checks and voice tape reviews to maintain standards and regulatory requirements (wherever applicable).
Deliver classroom, simulator, and OJTI duties as required and instructed by the Training Manager to meet operational requirements.
Identify and report issues with training equipment in use and simulator failures (hardware and software) for timely action to minimize disruption of service delivery.
Update and maintain ATCO records to support the Training Manager in maintaining the currency of ATC licenses (wherever applicable).
Complete and submit ATC license applications to the relevant Licensing Authority to ensure regulatory requirements and timeframes are met (wherever applicable).
Support the management in developing and introducing new regulations and operational methods (wherever applicable).
Support the Training Manager for the compilation and subsequent updates of the applicable Training and Competency Manual in line with the regulations (wherever applicable).
Highlight operational non-compliance immediately to the ATCOs concerned and inform the Manager ATS and Training Manager immediately (wherever applicable).
Identify and report safety risks in accordance with the Safety Management System.
Maintain own competencies and currency of ratings and endorsements to meet regulatory requirements.
Work with the Training Manager and respective ATS Training Specialists to design and develop the simulation modules for specific unit-based ATC training courses.
Configure the simulator and deliver exercise scenarios in accordance with Pilot SOPs and phraseology standards.
Develop and test airspace, aircraft performance, and exercise parameters required by the Training Manager to ensure the accuracy of training delivery.
Support the Training Manager and ATS Training Specialists in identifying training needs for radar and tower trainees to ensure that resulting simulation programs remain relevant.
To meet unit requirements, identify and train suitable Students, ATCOs / ATCAs to be utilized for unit pseudo pilot operations on how to use the radar simulator equipment.
Train pseudo pilots to design and program new simulator exercises using the Unit's individual simulator equipment and software and to be capable of making adhocchanges to the current simulator exercises.
Supervise and work with selected pseudo pilots to provide the highest standard of service to the trainee.
Perform additional responsibilities that may arise from time to time to meet operational and / or organizational requirements.
Accountabilities
Report to the Training Manager for all aspects of Unit Training
 
The safety responsibilities and accountabilities of this position are detailed in the Safety Management Manual of the organization. The Job holder is required to maintain awareness and knowledge in relation to their safety responsibilities associated with their job function"
 
Technical Competencies
Educational Qualification:
  • Higher secondary school certificate.
 
Professional Certifications:
  • Hold a valid ATC license endorsed with the applicable rating(s) for the designated airport/airbase or approach control unit.
 
Experience:
  • 5 years of operational controlling experience at a recognized and approved civil international airport or military airbase.
 
Special Technical Skills:
  • Current Class 3 aviation medical
  • OJTI Course Certificate and Licence Endorsement
  • Examiner and/or Supervisor Course Certificate and Licence Endorsement
  • Classroom Instructor Course (Train-the-Trainer) Certificate
  • Certificate of competence in the applicable rating(s) for the designated airport/airbase 
  • Must remain current and hold valid endorsements in OJTI and/or LCE/ATC Examiner
  • ICAO Level 5 English language proficiency
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office Applications
