Job Description

Six months fixed term contract

The best jobs make you fly. And when you join Virgin Atlantic as part of our world famous cabin crew, you’ll be doing just that - in more ways than one. We’re on the search for warm, hands-on and professional people to be the face of our iconic airline as we embark on the next exciting phase of our journey.

As Virgin Atlantic cabin crew, your goal is to make every customer’s inflight experience as memorable as the adventure that awaits them at their destination - delivering the exceptional service that sets us apart, and making sure that our customers and crew fly safe and well with us, every time.

If this sounds like you, we’d love you to apply to be a part of our team on a six month fixed term contract initially.

Day to Day

There's no shortage of excitement and opportunity in this job. You’ll be working alongside established cabin crew, sharing your passion and dedication for delivering exceptional customer service, as well as taking responsibility for safety, security and operational excellence onboard.

During each flight, the comfort, health and many various needs of our customers will be your prime focus, whether that's serving meals and promoting our fabulous duty free range, helping with special assistance requirements or reassuring nervous flyers. Our crew have even helped deliver a few babies onboard!

We'll support you in using your unique personality and Virgin flair to deliver our shining service and bring our brand to life, from greeting our customers onboard to wishing them well as they disembark.

Every trip is different. One day you’ll be relaxing on the beach in the Caribbean or shopping in Manhattan, the next hiking Table Mountain, or cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s important to remember that no flight is the same either. There will be challenging days, and you’ll need resilience to deal with the demands of a longhaul lifestyle – it’s not for everyone. But we’ll always be here to guide and support you, and when you spot an opportunity to make someone’s flight truly special, there’s no feeling like it.

About you

Whether you’ve flown before or not, you’ll need a pioneering spirit, a desire to discover new places and cultures, a positive attitude and a passion for delivering thoughtful experiences to each customer.

As part of our assessment and training process, you’ll need to be able to show that you:

  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Have no live criminal convictions or cases pending
  • Can swim 25 metres unaided and tread water, while putting on and manually inflating a life jacket.
  • Be able to reach up to 210 cm high without shoes (try it at home with your kitchen cupboards)
  • Be able to brace with your feet flat on the floor while sitting in our jump seat - which is 45cm from the floor (without shoes)

Be yourself - our differences make us stronger

Our customers come from all walks of life and so do our colleagues. That’s why we’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and actively encourage applications from all backgrounds. At Virgin Atlantic, we believe everyone can take on the world - no matter your age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, religion, or beliefs. We celebrate difference, and everything that makes our colleagues unique, by upholding an inclusive environment in which we can all thrive. So that everyone at Virgin Atlantic can be themselves and know they belong.

To make your journey with us accessible, and individual to you, we encourage you to let us know if you’d like a little extra help with your application, or if you have any individual requirements at any stage along your recruitment journey. We are here to support you, so please reach out to our team, ([email protected]) feeling confident that we’ve got your individual considerations covered.

Our training programme

We’ll invest heavily in your development and career, so that you can flourish. As you’d expect, our training programme is rigorous and intensive but rewarding, and it takes commitment from you to complete it successfully. The course is 4 ½ weeks long (Mon-Fri) and is split into three subject areas - Safety & Security, AvMed and Service. These include classroom-led sessions, practical sessions (including a swimming element), daily tests, exams, and final assessments.

Before you begin your practical training, you’ll need to complete 7 e-learning modules of around an hour each to prepare you with a solid foundation and make sure you’re all ready to go.

Once you graduate from your Wings ceremony, the sky really is the limit. It’ll be time to put all your training and hard work into practice and take to the skies with us.

We expect you to have lots of questions, and we’ll make sure that as you go through this journey with us, we’ll provide all the relevant information.

We so look forward to hearing from you.
