How to contribute to our vision

For our Blade Structural Design Department (part of SGREEC Offshore Technology Division) we are looking for a highly skilled and experienced structural engineer. The Blade Structural Design Department works on cutting edge technology in an international environment. The job will expose the engineer to a wide range of tasks allowing personal and technical growth and achieving a deep understanding of wind turbine blades. As a part of Blades Structures team in Bangalore, you will execute project in collaboration with our Blade structural team in Denmark & other global locations. The Blade Structural Design Department is responsible for the design of new offshore blades, tools development, certification, validation, industrialization and handling warranty cases. We are looking for people who are compliant, systematic, self-initiative, team player and consistent with excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate both down and upwards with multicultural international stakeholders. Responsibilities includes

  • Design and develop wind turbine rotor blade sub-component structures
  • Perform design risk analysis, validation and verification plan for blade sub-components
  • Optimize blade sub-component structural behaviour and interface with Blade structure.
  • Align with Blade process engineering on sub-component manufacturing and production implementation
  • Ensure blade sub-component operational excellence and support Service organization
  • Develop complete value chain improvement goals for blade and blade sub-component structures.
  • Development of inspection, retrofit and repair methods for wind turbine blade sub-components in service
  • Proactively maintain interfaces with Supply Chain, Laboratories, Blade test centre and Service

What you need to make a difference

  • Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change.
  • You must have Postgraduate in Mechanical / Aerospace Structures / Civil Structures / Relevant engineering from Premier Institutes
  • You have minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the area of composites structures
  • You have good knowledge of MATLAB. willing to learn in MATLAB and contribute on automation of activities using MATLAB scripting  
  • You have experience with FEM software (ANSYS CLASSIC) handling layered composite structures.
  • Based on analysis observations you have ability to propose a composite lay-up to meet structural requirements
  • As Individual contributor you have knowledge to perform major composite structural analysis using ANSYS CLASSIC and analytical methods.
  • Good understanding of DFMEA and risk assessments
  • With good communication skills, drive technical solutions and review with internal team and solution providers working across the globe

Optional / Good to have:

  • Blade Handling analysis, Contact Analysis in ANSYS CLASSIC
  • Working experience on wind blade manufacturing process and related operations like glass Lay-up, drilling, painting, handling, repair and inspection etc
  • Wind turbine blade structural design: Materials, ply definition, FE analysis, design assessment as per certification requirements, new product development process
  • Wind turbine blade structural full blade test: Collaboration with test centres and laboratories, test requirements, test design, test center infrastructure, test specifications, instrumentation requirements, test execution, test results validation, creating blade certification documents as per internal process / guidelines / regulations
  • You have knowledge of reading 3D/2D drawings, knowledge on modelling software’s like NX / AutoCAD
  • Knowledge on interaction between aero, loads and structural design
  • Understanding of PLM process
