Role & Responsibilities

The Quality Manager will be responsible for establishing an independent Quality System to monitor and ensure organizational compliance with regulatory requirements. He/ She will also implement a Quality Audit Program to review compliance with all maintenance procedures periodically and in relation to each type of aircraft/ component maintained (including the management and completion of audit and production of audit reports).

The Quality Manager will have direct access to the Accountable Manager in the event of any matter concerning the quality system, reported discrepancy not being adequately attended to by the relevant person, or in respect of any disagreement over the nature of a discrepancy.

• The Quality Manager defines the human factors principles to be implemented within SA Air Works
  • The Quality Manager must also ensure that any/ all observed non-compliances or poor standards are brought to the attention of the person concerned via his/her manager
  • The Quality Manager is responsible for follow up and closure of any non-conformances identified
  • With specific reference to the Part 145 approval, the Quality Manager is responsible for assessing: 
  o Sub-contractors for extension of the quality system, and maintaining the expertise necessary  to be able to do so, to the satisfaction of the DGCA
  o External specialist services required to be used by the company in the performance of  maintenance
    o Suppliers of new and used components, and materials, for satisfactory product quality in  relation to the needs of the organization
    o Preparing standard practices and procedures MOE including the associated procedures) for use within the organization, derived from approved sources, and keeping them up to date
    o Defect analysis in respect of aircraft under maintenance to ensure that any adverse trends are identified and responded to promptly
    o Moreover, the incumbent is also responsible for processing of feedback in the scope of continuous training
  • Follow up, coordination and control of the progress of remedial actions
  • Responsible for submission of the MOE and the associated revisions to the Authorities (which includes writing and submission of DGCA Form 2, DGCA Form 4).
  • The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing feedback from maintenance incidents/issues and feeding these back into the continuation training program
  • Responsible for Issuing/ renewal/ withdrawal / cancellation of the staff certifying authorizations
  • Responsible for keeping a record of all training and experience of maintenance-related personnel
  • Responsible for ensuring that all sub-contract orders are correctly detailed and that the requirements of the contract/ order are fulfilled in respect of inspection and quality control.
  • Any other function incidental to the above and as assigned

Qualifications

• Graduate in Electronics Engineering / Diploma / Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)
  • Minimum Experience of 10 years in Aviation Industry or equivalent
  • Documented experience and at least 5 years of relevant practical experience of which 2 years must be in an administrative function
  • Knowledge of EASA Part-M and Part-21
  • Thorough understanding of Quality Assurance, DGCA/ EASA/ FAA regulation and certifications requirements under 145, 147, Part 21
  • Any Avionics certification will be an added advantage
