Job Description

The Engineering Manager serves as the leader for all mechanical design and product development needs for the Mechanical Components portfolio of products including proposals, cost estimation, design and development, qualification, service introduction and field issue resolutions. The selected candidate is accountable for end-to-end delivery of design and product development assuring that they are executed on schedule, on budget, and in compliance with the quality requirements.

Responsibilities include providing functional oversight to all programs, developing and implementing talent strategies, people development, culture, technical leadership coaching, employee engagement and driving diversity and inclusion. This position will work closely with both Mechanical Components and Mechanical Design Leadership teams to execute the programs while creating and implementing a transformational burning platform strategy to dramatically reduce cycle time and cost, and improve Honeywell’s competitiveness in the marketplace.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Leverages the Mechanical Components portfolio – especially on the electromagnetic interface devices, Valves, Heat Exchangers and Air Turbine Starters.
  • Leads all design activities at system and component level internal to Honeywell (with proper coordination with peer leaders within MS&C), with suppliers, and with customers including aircraft OEMs.
  • Very good understanding of manufacturing methodologies including next generation technologies.
  • Possess hands on experience designing large mechanical systems and components for aerospace applications
  • Responsible for defining and executing design initiatives to achieve overall product development objectives within budget and schedule constraints and in compliance with requirements.
  • Manages the mechanical design team to deliver upon challenging technical, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Mentors and trains the team to achieve all objectives utilizing demonstrated experience in the design, and development of complex mechanical systems and components.
  • Continually reviews engineering projects, and the adequacy of plans, incentives and controls. Reports performance and results on a regular basis to the Sr Manager and also to the engineering director within MS&C at HTS.
  • Approves technical content, technical commitments, deliverable, and associated cost and schedule for all activities (internal or external).
  • Responsible for technical decision making, including, without limitation, coordinating technical requirements with relevant stakeholders, customers, and advising leadership and customers on all technical aspects and issues to achieve all technical requirements.
  • Coordinates with technical leaders, partners and program PEs to ensure overall program success.
  • Should be an evangelist of Growth and Innovation. Should front end the team in leveraging the new growth ideation for Mechanical Components
  • Partnering with program management, develops and implements a Management Operating System to drive effective communication, interfacing, and execution of tasks & responsibilities across the cross-functional organization.
  • Sponsors and leads transformational projects to execute work differently to achieve NPD 50/50 goals.
  • Creates an environment where individual and team accomplishments are valued and rewarded. Intellectually challenges using innovation and creativity.
  • Travel within India and/ or internationally may be required

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor / master’s degree in mechanical / Aerospace Engineering with 14+ years of relevant engineering experience in design and development of Propulsion Engines and Auxiliary Power Unit components and assemblies
  • Candidate must be an Indian Citizen

  • Able to identify the critical few issues on any effort and drive them to resolution to assure success.
  • Skilled in leading and communicating across multiple functions and organizational levels. Able to communicate effectively from the individual contributor level to the Executive Leadership level.
