Job Description

The Collins Innovation Hub is hiring an electronics engineer for an applications development role. He/She will be assisting in the design, prototyping and fabrication of engineering solutions to support innovation efforts in the areas of electronics, robotic and automation applications for the manufacturing and repair of aircraft components in the Collins Aerospace family of companies

The candidate will have a strong interest in pursuing a career in the aerospace sector, possesses excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering disciplines and willing to push boundaries using new technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful applicants will work with the Collins Aerospace IET team to develop technologies for use in Manufacturing and MRO operations.

  • Design EE Circuit & PCB Layout with concept of modularity and reuse
  • Build microcontroller programs for testing or simulations with appropriate details
  • Create BOM for assigned projects
  • Communicate effectively on the work progress and highlight the issues/risks to the manager
  • Responsible for equipment in the lab and their usage
  • Support project management activities for interdependent work packages
  • Perform deep dive analysis into emerging technologies
  • Other duties as may be assigned for electronics engineer role such as supporting project and make purchases

REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor’s degree or Polytechnic Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
  • Two years of working experience in an engineering environment. Fresh graduates are welcome
  • Good understanding of common communication protocols usage
  • Good understanding of electrical and electronic design concepts (e.g. engineering tradeoffs, design optimization, theory of operation, differences between different technologies)
  • Willing to learn and pick up new skills and concepts on the job (Labview programming, PLC programming, vision systems, data analytics and visualization etc)
  • Intermediate understanding of EDA design tools
  • Willing to work hands on with various tools
  • Strong communication skills, aptitude for teamwork, and able to work in multi-domain team (Electrical, Mechanical, Robotic, and Automation)
  • Programming skills will be a plus
  • Knowledge of Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino will be a plus

Knowledge of Design Thinking methodology will be a plus
