Job Description

Serco Middle East is a well-established, leading organization in the region and is looking for people with in-depth experience in Rescue & Fire Fighting (RFF) services to deliver Airfield Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) and Structural Rescue & Fire Fighting (SRFF) services for one of their contracts - MELABS Fire and Rescue Services located in Dubai, UAE. The incumbent will provide 24/7 Rescue & Firefighting Services (RFFS), including but not limited to the provision of ARFF services to designated airfield to the specified International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Category, including civilian and military aircraft, provide SRFF services in response to incidents, including fire, building and facility emergencies, storms, gas leaks, burst water mains, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials and de-contamination tasks.

Key accountabilities

  • Responds to actual or potential aviation fire (ARFF) emergencies to prevent or extinguish fires and rescue aircraft crew/passengers using specialist equipment as required.
  • Responds to actual or potential structural fires (SRFF), including office/accommodation buildings, welfare facilities, fuel farms/petroleum and hazardous products storage areas, and any other area of the airbase to combat fires and potential fire hazards using specialist equipment as required
  • Applies appropriate firefighting techniques and media application to manage additional potential incidents such as fuel spills, to mitigate the danger of aircraft fire or explosion.
  • Conducts rescue operations and the safe removal of trapped or injured persons from aircraft, vehicles and buildings, using specialist equipment such as power/hydraulic tools, breathing apparatus, PPV and ladders, which may also include working at height of confined space working.
  • Responds to actual or potential (ARFF/SRFF) fires or emergencies in the capacity of fire vehicle driver operator with responsibility for all vehicle movements and operation requirements
  • Conducts the daily operational serviceability, vehicle and equipment checks including operation of engine, transmission, drive train, pumps, and hydraulic systems
  • Manages the control room in the fire station on a shift basis and dispatches fire vehicles/equipment resources as required to all reported emergencies/alarms.
  • Continuously monitors control room incoming airfield crash alarm, calls, signals and information concerning fire and emergency including tests that originate from the mains panel, the control tower and the building fire alarm and detection systems.

What We Are Looking For In Our Candidates

  • Experience – Two-Five (2-5) years’ experience in fire/rescue services
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance.
  • Military firefighting experience
  • Other - Valid heavy vehicle operator license in country of origin and ability to obtain equivalent in the United Arab Emirates
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Computer based dispatch/control systems

  • PUA20619 Cert II Public Safety (Firefighting & Emergency Operations) or
  • PUA20719 Cert II Public Safety (Firefighting & Emergency Operations) or
  • PUA30619 Cert III Public Safety (Firefighting & Emergency Operations) or
  • PUA30613 Cert III Public Safety (Firefighting & Emergency Operations) or
  • Must have below units:
  • PUAFIR302B - Suppress Urban Fire.
  • PUAFIR306B – Render Hazardous Materials Incidents Safe.
  • PUAFIR308B - Employ Personal Protection as a Hazardous Materials Incident
  • PUAFIR309B - Operate Pumps
  • PUAFIR305B - Respond to Aviation Incident (General)
  • PUAFIR205 - Respond to Aviation Incident (Specialist)
  • HLTAID001 (or equivalent) - Provide CPR
  • HLTAID007 (or equivalent) - Provide Advance Resuscitation
  • Provide First Aid or Provide Advanced First Aid
  • Heavy Rigid (HR) Driving License (Any state - Australia)

UK applicants must have.

  • Firefighter Initial (ICAO/CAA) or
  • Certified Firefighter (DFRMO / MOD / JOIFF)
  • Certified Breathing Apparatus Wearer
  • Certified First Aid
  • Certified Emergency Fire Appliance Driver
  • Heavy Vehicle Driving License

United States and Canadian applicants must have.

  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II and
  • NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus, Driver / Operator and
  • NFPA 1003 Airport Firefighter and
  • NFPA 472 / 1072 HAZMAT Awareness and
  • Certified First Aid
  • Heavy Vehicle Driving License (Any state)

New Zealand applicants must have.

  • Firefighter Intermediate Urban & Vegetation (NZQA National Cert. L2) and
  • Firefighter Intermediate Aviation ( NZQA National Cert. L2) and
  • Certified Medical Co-responder and
  • Certified Emergency Response Driver (Inc. 4x4, Pump Ops Aviation)
  • Certified First Aid
  • Class 2 Driving License (New Zealand)
