Who we are and what we're looking for:

Okulo Aerospace is an early-stage stealth startup based out of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Combining renewable energy and precision engineering, we are currently developing solar-electric hybrid aerial platforms that will revolutionize aerial data acquisition. We envision a world where drones can fly continuously without having to land at all and we are currently in the first step towards that realizing that vision. Founded by alumni from Purdue University (USA) and NIT-Trichy (India) with extensive research background and with a vision to nurture great teams and develop solutions for hard problems, we are looking at joining hands with the next generation of talented individuals looking to embark on this exciting journey. Are you an experienced flight controls engineer looking to make a meaningful impact that you just can’t find in legacy aerospace companies? Have you ever dreamed of crafting a clean-sheet flight control system? Would you like to deliver a significant percentage of key systems for a new product design? If so,you might be a good fit for the team in a Lead Flight Controls Engineer role here at Okulo Aerospace!

Responsibilities:

• Guide the team in building capabilities for navigation and high level autonomy functions, low level flight control, and the simulation tools needed for development and testing.

• Provide leadership by example: define and implement process, write and test code, generate documentation, and ensure the product performs to the highest standards

• Collaborate and co-develop novel, certifiable systems to solve the toughest problems in autonomy.

Basic Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Masters or Phd in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Control Systems Engineering or a related subject
• Knowledge of open-source flight stack such as Ardupilot, px4 etc.
• 2+ years of experience developing control systems for aerial vehicle designs
• Demonstrable ability to learn, and write about, new technical topics rapidly and accurately

Desired Skills:

• Demonstrated deep understanding of aircraft dynamics, classical and modern control theory / design / analysis, and navigation theory / design / analysis
• Experience designing and implementing software for real-time systems.
• Knowledge of flight control law design and Model-Based Design (MBD) processes
• Knowledge of fixed and/or rotary aircraft flying qualities, flight dynamics, piloting control strategies and flight control systems.
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Python.
