Job Description

Overall responsibility for supervision of duties related in the workshop maintenance section. Ensure efficiency in operations by monitoring are in adherence to the quality standards as per set procedures and guidelines. Monitor scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of vehicles and as per established maintenance standards. Improve internal process to reduce the turnaround time for return of vehicles or items of equipment to users.

Main Duties

  • Use process knowledge to identify opportunities for improvement in existing operations.
  • Deputize controller maintenance / OPS as and when required.
  • Leverage understanding of unit to ensure smooth functioning.
  • Coordinate with team in ensuring adherence to section goals.
  • Overall planning of the unit’s operational requirements and coordination with workshop team various stakeholders within unit to execute these efficiently.
  • Key point of contact for various sections within Workshop to provide regular updates and reports on operational status.
  • Key point of contact for section head for seeking inputs on workshop related updates.
  • Seek status updates from sections within workshop to ensure efficiency of operations.
  • Receive inputs on the daily maintenance and major repair schedule and distribute work accordingly (divide tasks amongst team with sections assigned to activities).
  • Ensure inspection and supervision of all completed repairs across workshops and adhere to quality control standards; Workshops includes machine, tire, welding, panel beating, paint, component shops.
  • Provide inputs on standard operating guidelines and monitor adherence to standard workshop procedures with respect to the repair and overhaul of all equipment
  • Coordinate with subordinates (foreman) to ensure completion of tasks assigned and receive updates to ensure timely updating of systems (seek input post completion of tasks, ensure closure of job cards post review of work).
  • Generate technical reports for review by seniors and provide clarifications as required; this includes assessment of historical data, spare parts usage etc.
  • Prepare reports with recommendations on repetitive component or failure and submit to supervisor for review
  • Review monthly status reports of maintenance work / repair (scheduled and unscheduled) and ensure adherence to safety and technical standards.
  • Monitor and check stock levels to ensure standard inventory levels are maintained.
  • Review regular summary reports prepared by subordinates on job completion status; this includes start and end time of job, delays, escalations, reasons etc.
  • Monitor escalations and resolve queries as required to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure technical, safety and security standards are met through preparation for regular monitoring and surprise checks.
  • Performs supervisory duties at the management level established for the position.
  • Resolve people issues/ escalations within team as per authority level.
  • Provide training (mostly on the job on tools and equipment usage, operation of newly acquired vehicles etc.) as required for capacity building.
  • Supervise the execution of processes to ensure compliance to stringent audit / regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with the Company and Airport authorities’ health, safety, and security regulations.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

  • 12 years’ experience in aircraft heavy/light ground equipment’s maintenance work.
  • Experience in welding and painting vehicles.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position.

Other Essential Requirements:

  • Driving License.
  • Heavy Equipment’s Technical knowledge (7 years).
  • Fair knowledge of written and spoken English.
