Role Purpose

NEOM Authority is aiming to disrupt the existing models and set a new standard for governance in the world. It will institutionalize the Authority of the Future, which is Digitally native, adaptive, Lean and Citizen / Business-centric. To achieve this ambitious roadmap, the head of Space under the DCC head will be required to lead in research, development, architecture, engineering design and pilot development/procurement of innovative space technologies ensuring they are delivered on-spec and on-time with advanced levels of innovation

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES :

Ensure NEOM’s Build a Robust Space Industry Based On The Following

Coordinate with all space entities in KSA with a strong focus on Saudi Space Commission and Lead overall efforts to provide NEOM with innovative and efficient network and digital technologies to meet the required space services and operational requirements. Coordinate all aspects of space policy management including national and international procurement, space regulation, infrastructure, and pricing.

Space activities regulations and policies

• Design a framework for categorization of space activities
• Identify long list of NEOM’s potential space activities
• Establish a regulatory framework to govern the activities

Space technology & standards

• Oversee facilities involved
• Adopt space technologies that will harness NEOM’s future vision
• Set policies and standards for space and aerospace technologies
• Develop plan for space security
• Create policies for innovation and investment in space solutions

Space Information

• Supervise the publication of relevant technical white papers related to space and space industry
• Represent NEOM at relevant conferences and tradeshows to make it more attractive to investors
• Attend industry workshops
• Organize technical roundtables regularly at NEOM
• Contribute to NEOM content regarding Space innovations
• Promote space activities’ awareness throughout NEOM and socialize all innovative aspects

Space Technology Alignment and Investment (s)

• Maintain strong relationships with officials from Saudi Space Commission and relevant authorities
• Liaise with Department of Communications Divisions especially with Communication Infrastructure head
• Engage with partner startups, space technology companies
• Liaise with user groups and relevant NEOM-based industry organizations
• Represent NEOM at relevant local and international organizations
• Collaborate with Research institutions and Universities, Accelerators, and Incubators

Fund research and technological advancements in space tech

Qualifications And Experience.

• Degree in space engineering and management or in a related field.
• 10 to 15 years of experience in Space and Satellite related leading roles in development or maintenance, with some background in emerging technology or network projects
• Minimum 10 years of supervisory experience in public or private sector space focused organizations with experience in project management, operations and space programs including effective management of large budgets
• Demonstrated experience in policy creation and execution of space policies is preferred
