Job Description

Main responsibilities: 

Airlines need to conduct periodic maintenance on the aircrafts in order to maintain aircraft airworthy. And the maintenance operations itself are quite complicated, time taking and need availability of the right amount of inventory and skilled personnel while conducting the maintenance. Reducing the overall maintenance cycle (typical C Check on an A380 takes approximately 30-35 days) by even a small amount could reduce the costs as well as aircraft on ground time. 

The intern would need to develop Machine Learning algorithms in order to reduce / optimize the tasks to be performed on the hanger. 

Main activities: 

• The intern needs to understand the kind of maintenance operations that take place in a hanger 
• Also understand the aircraft maintenance planning & execution (from  operations perspective) 
• Understand and evaluate various parameters that would be needed to develop the machine learning models 
• Develop machine learning models preferably with new technologies such as Reinforcement Learning and define the methodology behind 
• With the available test data demonstrate the success of the models 
• Document the work done (Design and Test dossiers) 

Skills: 

• Strong fundamentals in applied mathematics (Mathematics for Machine Learning) 
• Computer Science Fundamentals and Data Structures Data Modeling and Evaluation 
• A programming language suitable (R / Python) 
• Knowledge of any other application programming language (desirable) to visualize the results (Javascript etc). 

Specialization/Stream: 

Computer Science Fundamentals and Programming or Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (preferred) or Mathematics with specialization in data science (Machine Learning)
