Job Description

Main responsibilities:

The Digital Twin and Digital Thread are witnessed as one of the key enablers to improve the product competitiveness and manifesting the benefits of Industry 4.0. The aim of this internship shall be to understand the fundamentals of these concepts and build the Architecture of the Electrical Flight Control Systems (EFCS) models for the future Airbus Blended Wing Body Aircraft design. This shall be performed by using the existing Simulink based model architectures of Flight Control Computers, Shared resources for power (Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic) and data, A/C Multi-physics models and primarily the redefined needs and requirements of the Blended Wing Bodies. 

Main activities: 

  • Familiarize with the methodologies, techniques and tools used for the existing Architecture, Design and Integration of Flight Control systems in the State-of-the-Art Airbus Aircrafts by leveraging the experience of the Electrical Modellers & specialists. 
  • Understand and decompose the needs and requirements solicited by the stability & Control envelopes of Blended Wing Body design 
  • Acknowledge and Rationalize the elements of the Product Digital twin that shall be envisaged in the EFCS of the future by using Model Based System Engineering approach by liaising with the engineers working on MBSE and Digital twin 
  • Analyze and identify the appropriate tool-sets and chains to be used in this process taking support of the documentation from the past research on EFCS 
  • Streamline and document the process adopted and the improvisations warranted from the existing process to satisfy the demands of the new product. 
  • Synthesise the results through Models, Simulations & reports and present the same to the SMEs in the organization. 

Skills: 

  • Strong Aerospace Engineering Fundamentals, particularly on Flight Mechanics 
  • Knowledge of Overall Aircraft Design through coursework and academic projects 
  • Knowledge of simulation and modelling using CAMEO, 3DX, Matlab, SCADE, IBM Rhapsody (Sysml), AMESim, Magicdraw etc. (at least one modelling languages) 
  • Knowledge of programming in C /C++ / Matlab /Simulink / Python Ability to operate with Kinematic simulation tools like MSC ADAMS 6. Basic understanding to use Commercial CFD solvers (Fluent/STAR-CCM+) 7. Strong interpersonal skills to connect with several modelers, specialists and experts to collaborate and engage with them in order to find the appropriate solutions 

Specialization/Stream: Candidates with specialization in Aerospace Engineering with deep interest in Flight Mechanics and in strong pursuit of applying Modeling & Simulation techniques in the industry with good knowledge on Model Based System Engineering are welcome.
