Job Description

Main responsibilities: The intern will have to research and analyze the selected landing  gear system to support Prognostic Health Monitoring (PHM) in aircraft Landing Gear.  Study shall include feasibility study of PHM and analysis of current architecture and  sensors, along with suggestions for new sensors and their location.  

Main activities: 

• Understanding the problem statement, previous work done and coming up  with a plan, discussion with experts etc.  
• Identify and prioritize the equipment having significant operational and  maintenance impacts, and those characterized by complex technologies. Identify likely failure modes for the equipment’s and their associated stress  factors and failure precursors. 
• Define any possible features (from existing sensors) potentially used for  anticipation of each failure mode (features representing possible early  symptoms, stress factors, usage). 
• List all existing sensors and features extracted from existing sensors. Define possible new sensing (at component or system level, considering the  use of PHM technology). 
• List potential new sensors and their useful features and their intrinsic  properties (cost, weight, reliability, data acquisition). 
• Define potential operational redundancies and P/Ns (weight, cost, reliability) to  be challenged by prognostic use.  
• Connecting and collaborating with different teams to collect and analyze  relevant data. 
• Documentation of the work done and populating the result in PHM Tool. 

Skills: 

• Basics understanding of Landing Gear System, Hydraulics,  

sensors/electronics, Reliability concept. 

• Good experience in Diagnostic and Prognostic, Root cause analysis,  FMECA (Failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis), Documentation and interest in data science. 

Specialization/Stream: Candidates from any relevant engineering discipline with  above skill set
