Job Description:  

This profile seeks to hire a highly competent Lead Avionics Engineer to work on Avionics modules that go into launch vehicles being developed at Skyroot. This will be a technical manager role, where the selected candidate is expected to lead the development, testing & integration of various key Avionics modules that go on-board Skyroot’s launch vehicles. 

Roles and Responsibilities: Will typically include (but not restricted to), 

• Lead the system architecture, development, testing and integration of Avionics modules going onto launch vehicle. 
• Go to person for the team for deep technical / system level issues. 
• Define best practices to be followed during development, assembly, integration, and checkout, to achieve highest level of reliability for the mission. 
• Review designs to ensure highest quality of work, monitor progress of development and ensure timely delivery of Avionics modules according to the overall project timeline. 
• Oversee vendor engagement; articulate the team’s needs into well-defined specification documents and get quality work delivered from vendors 

Minimum Qualifications and Skills 

1.Bachelors (or higher) in Electronics Engineering (ECE / EEE / EIE or equivalent) 

2.10+ years of experience in managing electronics hardware product development, preferably in Aerospace / Defense / Automotive domains. 

3.Comprehensive & deep technical expertise including: 

• Electronics development 
• Firmware development 
• System integration 
• Automated testing 
• Instrumentation 
• Mechanical integration 

4.Extensive knowledge of development workflows, best practices pertaining 

• Board bring-up 
• Hardware in the loop testing 
• Software requirements capture 
• Software version management 
• Software reliability testing 
• Environmental Stress Testing 
• Integration management 

5.Active / dormant working experience of tools including: 

• Schematic capture tools 
• Embedded programming IDEs 
• LabVIEW / Python for Automated testing 
• MATLAB for system simulation / algorithm prototyping 
• Project management software 

Additional Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

• Ability to think at system level & mission level, while also having full and detailed understanding of all the hardware and software 
• Excellent aptitude in understanding and evaluating specifications in general. The candidate must be able to pore-through data sheets and quickly identify what is relevant 
• Failure mode thinking (i.e., thinking of all possible scenarios as to how a system could possibly fail) 
• Strong inclination towards architecturally rigorous & robust approaches as opposed to ‘quick fixes’ 
• Excellent debugging skills and willingness to jump into details 
• Excellent communication & articulation skills – both written and verbal 
• Passion for advancing the commercial space industry in India
