Job Description

To lead the strategy definition and implementation for tools and related inventory to ensure availability and SLAs to Technical Department’s operations in the most cost-effective manner over the asset’s lifecycle.

To lead and guide a team of procurement specialists and material planners to ensure all aspects of tool management, such as operations support, investment analysis, surplus management and inventory oversight is maintained and organized across the team.

Accountabilities

  • Ensuring appropriate planning strategy is defined and implemented for tools and related inventory for line, light, heavy and workshop maintenance activities at optimum cost.
  • Initial and continues provisioning for Tooling & GSE, cabin spares, workshop spares and consumables required to support new fleet including W-file reviews.
  • Ensure review of existing tool and related inventory based on lease return aircraft and ensure to follow standard practices to optimize the inventory.
  • Monitor and stagger tool calibration to ensure timely availability for all tools for maintenance support.
  • Ensures the strategy of “Make or Buy” is effectively implemented for tools to ensure highest performance with minimal lifecycle investment. This includes loan, lease or manufacture the tools in house in best interest of department’s goal.
  • Prepare annual spend budget for spend on tool and related inventory procurement and repair and controlling the spend adhering to the same.
  • Ensure timely review of Tool Change Bulletins for new drawing releases for managing for tool upgrades.
  • Develop, establish and manage relationship with key strategic partners such as aircraft manufacturers, OEMs, repair vendors and spare parts suppliers to ensure the tools management strategy is effectively implemented and operations are supported.
  • Ensure Reorder Levels are set in ERP and updated as per consumption trends. 
  • Responsible for the optimum tool holding and service levels such as SLAs, stock turn, surplus identification and management etc.
  • Develop and maintain up to date the departmental manuals (TPMs & Technical Asset Management Policy) to ensure compliance with regulations and organizational requirements.
  • Responsible for establishing KPI for team which will achieve department’s goal and ensure the optimum inventory is maintained.
  • Lead and develop a team of supply chain experts and ensure internal talents are developed by means of coaching, mentoring and exposure to new subjects and projects.
  • Ensure to support any projects assigned by SMTAM to achieve department goal.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or equivalent professional qualification or experience (min. 10 years)
  • Experience & tracked record in effective planning, provisioning and management of aviation tools and workshop support planning, contract management and/or supplier management functions.
  • Knowledge of standard aviation practices including tools related manuals like ITM.
  • Strategic & tactical thinking, analytical mind and cost management experience are required.
  • Aircraft Spares, cabin spares management experience is an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen and effective relationship builder.
  • People’s focused person with ability to lead, organise and guide operational teams and set a high performing team culture.
