As a Manufacturing Engineer, your responsibility will be to deliver Manufacturing Engineering activities in support of a business and use the methods described in management process landscapes to manage Programme and execute tasks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with interfacing teams (Development Engineering, Design, Operations, etc.), partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing and assembly methods are understood and accounted for as required. Identify opportunities for new or improved manufacturing and assembly methods to meet current or future requirements.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering to conduct Design for Assembly reviews, minimizing build complications and producing robust designs.
  • Create the process to assemble cutting edge products for the first time considering for the tooling, instrumentation, build measurements, HS&E and relevant standards and specifications.
  • Plan and manage activities, communicating status to relevant stakeholders.  Ensure manufacturing processes comply with all legal requirements (regulatory, HS&E, etc.), customer requirements and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm Programme.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders (MECLs) or equivalent, and Manufacturing Process Owners (MPOs) to develop the manufacturing technology strategy to deliver the products of tomorrow.
  • Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline and proven experience in aerospace assembly and build process. General understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business.
  • Good knowledge of design procedure and build implications.
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to deliver in a challenging environment and be able to work individually.
  • High level of self-motivation, flexibility to operate in a changing manufacturing environment, and the ability to work both individually and as a member of a multi-skilled team.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing operations environment.
