Job Description

Job Objective:
Material Managers are in charge of a certain range of part-numbers grouped in different categories
andresponsible for handling exceptions occurring within the total component service portfolio
1. Most important responsibilities
 Work on material requests placed by Lufthansa Technik’s component customers and ensure
delivery within the contractually agreed time by assessing the material availability situation for a
particular Dispo-Set, particularly the inventory available and forecasted at the different stations of the
material cycle (LHT warehouses, Customers’ stations, components workshops or service providers)
 Identify factors or process steps blocking or impairing material availability for this particular DispoSet
 Escalate occurring issues to responsible department in Hamburg
 Identify improvement opportunities and work on them in coordination with responsible department
and other relevant interfaces
 Ensure short-term material availability in coordination with the different interfaces (the different
stations of the material cycle, including Planning Department and the expediting managers of the
Procurement departments), managing priorities and trade-offs according to Customers’ needs and
contractual rights
 Ensure an adequate inventory balance between the different warehouse locations considering the
demand forecasts and safety-stock requirements
 Monitor service-levels delivered by the different interfaces
 Monitor and pro-actively address the demand forecasts, in particular planned or scheduled recall,
retro-fit or repair campaigns
 Monitor the relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI), both from a service fulfillment and from an
economic standpoint
 Discuss performance with responsible department on a Supplier-Customer basis

2. Requirements(Education, Experience)
 Graduation in any stream and / or Engineering
 Minimum 2 years overall work experience
 Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers (internal and external)
 Experience in handling relevant IT infrastructure (SAP R/3 and SAP BW experience preferred)
 Ability to take decisions autonomously, creative and innovative thinking
 Ability to work under pressur
