Job Description

Operability team is devoted to Wind Turbine systems modeling and Operability tuning for New Products, Cost-out programs and Fleet support, with a strong focus on product optimization.

The vision of the LC Operability team is to support LC engineering to develop winning LCOE wind turbine products for LC markets, leveraging advanced multibody dynamics simulation capabilities, system dynamics analysis and system optimization through controller tuning, while keeping high-standards on quality and on time delivery.

The role of the Operability engineer includes performing control tuning optimization for reliable, high performance and low LCOE wind turbines products and supporting segment simulation teams by providing control tuning guidance.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support Control tuning and optimization strategy for new and existing products
  • Performs full operability checks for new configurations
  • Support prototype validationphase , during ramp up and ph 0 testing
  • Perform control tuning for SVO loads/MLA loads simulations
  • Perform validation studies for new OneControl releases.
  • Support prototype and farm controller validation for grid integration, running simulations and/or co-simulations in Flex and/or Simpack to reproduce turbine behavior during events like LVRT, MFRT, etc
  • Support grid requirements from ITO/OTR
  • Support new NPIs including grid code requirements and generic operability needs for proper turbine performance and loads optimization.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering, Control Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Knowledge of high-fidelity MBS softwares for wind turbine aero elastic simulations (Bladed, Simpack, Hawc2, Adams, etc.).
  • Knowledge of converting Grid codes to requirements
  • Some years in turbine control/Convertor control tuning and optimizing
  • Effective problem identification and solving ability.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leading and influencing skills and a positive energy.
  • Some years of aeroelastic simulation experience for Wind Turbines
  • Experience in controller code development for wind turbines.
  • Experience in integrating electrical requirements into turbine controls and operability.
  • Good understanding of WT controls.
  • Wind turbine system design experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including ability to work across cultural boundaries in a global team.
  • Product or Project Management Experience.
  • Pro-active thinking & action to ensure quality.
  • Strong issue resolution skills and conflict management.
