Job Description

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, development, fabricate, test and qualify the propulsion system components and demonstrate the operation of the components in space.
• Perform the design of parts/components based on the technical requirements and design inputs and prepare design document which include the mathematical calculations and design drawings.
• Involve in the design and construction of the propulsion components and assemble the components with the propulsion system and perform the testing. Work with the team to establish the functioning of the components.
• Researching previous designs from older propulsion systems to get inspiration for new designs.
• Collaborate with other engineers to design, build and test propulsion system and its associated components
• All design work is carried out to the required standards of accuracy with specific regard to the Quality Assurance, Design Guides and Practice Notes and appropriate statutory regulations and codes of practice.
• Develop engineering test plans for designs. Create drawing packages and manufacturing instructions for parts and assemblies. Create 3D model of the designed part and 2D drafting with GD&T. Validate components as per defined engineering requirements.
• Perform fault tree analysis of any failures by assisting safety personnel or checking malfunctioned components.
• Evaluate laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with standards or to make improvements as needed.

Key Requirements:

• B.Tech/M.Tech/M.S in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 2+ years of industry experience with experience in product design, hardware realization and testing.
• Proficiency in using mechanical design and analysis tools (NX CAD, ANSYS, etc).
• Basic Knowledge on Mechanical design analysis including thermal, structural, design for assembly, and design for test.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Deep understanding of the basic functioning of the components used in mechanical design (metals, insulators, plastics, connectors, gaskets, thermal interface materials, potting, etc.) and perform suitable material selection
• Prior experience of working on combustion modelling and hardware testing is plus.
