Job Description

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of Ansys software. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will work within a software development team to accelerate cross BU work on material calibration and enable support of all advanced constitutive models and componentization of Material model library in an agile environment.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Participates in planning, designing and researching the advanced material constitutive modeling with initial focus on material calibration and componentization for cross BU application.
  • Participates in planning, architecting and researching the multiscale modeling, co-simulation with LS-Dyna, NVH and FSI workflows.
  • Performs complex development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including user experience and software with latest tools and the related products.
  • Employs best practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring.
  • Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, civil or Aeronautical Engineering, Applied Mechanics or related fields with 2 years’ experience, or MS.
  • Strong programming background for GUI design.
  • Proficiency in Fortran, C/C++, Python and Cloud environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD and 2 or more years of commercial simulation software development experience, especially in material constitutive modeling and material parameter calibration.
  • Deep knowledge in finite element formulations or other numerical methods in simulation and nonlinear solution algorithms
  • Excellent technical knowledge and background with object-oriented code design, scripting languages, data structures handling, and numerical algorithms.
  • Commercial experience with various usages of finite element analysis software.
  • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.
  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain.
  • Linux experience is desirable.
