For our Blade Structural Integrity and Design Team within Service Business Unit we are looking for a highly skilled senior structural engineer in composite materials. The Blade Structural Integrity and Design Team works with cutting edge technology in an international environment. The job will expose the engineer to a wide range of tasks allowing personal and technical growth and achieving a deep understanding of wind turbine blades.

The Structural Integrity and Design team is part of the Blade Module which is responsible for handling technical fleet support cases, warranty cases, conducting blades failure root cause investigations, blade repairs, development of core technologies for repairs, support windfarms with blade integrity assessment, development of new products and technologies for operating blades on site and much more.

How to contribute to our vision and main responsibilities

  • In this position, you will take a key role in for blade structural integrity and design, as you will be taking ownership to deliver the required engineering support to the existing blades fleet under SGRE (including OEM blades) in a timely manner. This includes conducting blade damage condition evaluation, structural integrity risk evaluation, troubleshooting, and elaborating dispositions as well as engineering statement reports.
  • You will also perform investigations, root cause analyses and drive clue decision for incidents, damages and failure of blades in collaboration with other stakeholders.
  • You will take technical ownership of key OEM blades knowledge. Including keeping design information up to date and structured.
  • You will contribute in the development of repair work instructions
  • You will also drive technical assessments of warranty cases and perform challenging FEA calculations.
  • Furthermore, you will contribute in the calculation methods and tool development.

What you need to make a difference

  • You have a MSc of PhD degree in mechanical engineering, composite engineering or aeronautical engineering or relevant industry experience.
  • You have 5+ years of experience in the wind blades industry
  • You have a solid understanding of light weight structures, composite materials and bonded joints.
  • You have a solid understanding of analytical methods to assess the structural condition of composite blades and their failure modes.
  • You have excellent communication skills and are able to communicate your results in a clear and convincing manner
  • You have a structured approach to your work and are able to handle simultaneous assignments without losing the overview.
  • You are a team player but also are able to work independently and you can drive your own assignments.
  • Proficient command of both Indian and English, both orally and in writing.

Ad a plus it would be appreciated

  • 2+ years experience in service engineering fleet support activities related blade under O&M
  • Experience in engineering evaluation and disposition of blade manufacturing non-conformities
  • Blades manufacturing process experience
  • Matlab environment programming skills (Python would be also valued)
  • Advanced with commercial Finite Element software (preferably Ansys APDL, Abaqus, Hypermesh)
