Job Description

As a Sr. Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing high performance, safety critical, highly reliable Unmanned Aerial System products.

Specific Responsibilities: 

•  
• CAD design of UAV system mechanical components and assemblies keeping in mind system requirements, design principles, electromechanical assembly requirements, DFM/A principles, FMEA
• Analyze structures – composite/metal/plastic/other using engineering principles, FEA to ensure that all requirements with respect to loads, weight, operating environment are met
• Test and verify UAV mechanical components against requirements and design
• Document requirements, design reports, analysis reports for UAV components and assemblies
• Mentor other engineers in the design team
• Drive continuous process improvement in design activities and workflow

Qualifications: Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Aerospace/Mechanical engineering or equivalent field

Relevant Experience: 6+ years

Desired Skills & Characteristics:

• Deep expertise in design, analysis and manufacturing processes of mechanical parts & assemblies
• Structural design process from conceptual design to detailed design 
• Strong experience in designing with metal and plastic materials. Familiarity with composite materials is preferred
• Working knowledge of GDT principles, DFM/A principles, FMEA, root cause analysis 
• Advanced FEA & CFD skills – Linear & Non- Linear Analysis, Impact analysis, Vibration Analysis, Assembly Level Simulations, Parametric Analysis & Associated design improvement
• Knowledge of industrial standards in design, analysis and testing of products
• Knowledge of composites - Fabrication techniques & impact on strength characteristics, material selection, design using composites tools, fatigue and fracture mechanics.
• Knowledge of flight dynamics, aerodynamics, unmanned aerial systems is a plus
• Prior leadership experience in leading projects/product development
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Self driven, ability to work independently
• Ability to adapt to fast changing requirements, work environment while delivering quality output
