Job Description

About the Role:

  • Permanent lateral opportunity for a Level 3 structural analysis engineer, responsibilities/expectations commensurate with current level.
  • Develops/Leads development, integration and documentation of structural requirements to establish the system design. Co-ordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
  • Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using and developing analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Leads development of test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements. Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.

Works under minimal direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing structural analysis of aircraft components, assemblies, and systems while working as an integrated team
  • Structural analysis includes calculation of loads, Static analysis, Fatigue analysis, DamageTolerance analysis, and vibration analysis
  • Evaluate structural integrity of aircraft components by way of classical hand calculations and, finite element method
  • Generate documentation to report analysis and test results to support certification/Qualification
  • Support Gated Reviews to validate the quality and completeness of work packages
  • Familiar with regulatory framework (FAA and Mil-Spec), for warranting safety and regulatory

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Applied Mechanics/Structural engineering and 10+ years’of experience in stress analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in structural analysis of various airframe structures.
  • Experience with structural analysis of metallic and composite structures.
  • Experience with static and fatigue analysis.
  • Knowledge of airplane operating environments.
  • Robust understanding of engineering fundamentals such as material properties, Free-body diagrams, structural loads and analysis methods.
  • Experience in utilizing FEM software (e.g., ABAQUS, PATRAN/NASTRAN, Hyperworks).
  • Experience or training with computer programming languages (ex. Matlab, Python, Visual Basic).
  • Experience in utilizing industry CAD systems (e.g., NX/Teamcenter and CATIA/ENOVIA).
  • Candidate demonstrates excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to liaise with several Stakeholders.
