How to apply for a Computer Number?

Computer Number is a Unique Identification Number allotted to a CPL (Commercial Pilot’s License)
Candidate. It acts like a Permanent Roll Number and is mandatory to be eligible to appear for DGCA
Examinations and for any other correspondence with Chief Examination Officer, DGCA.

Just like your Aadhar Card, the Computer Number is an ID that contains all your records stored with
DGCA in a digital format. It makes the process of CPL training seamless and convenient.

Applying for a Computer Number involves a long list of steps, tonnes of document uploads and a whole lot of information to be precisely mentioned. While this may sound overwhelming, we have simplified the steps for you to ensure your Computer Number Application is accepted on the very first attempt.

Step 1

We first create an account on the DGCA Pariksha website.

  • Log on to pariksha.dgca.gov.in
  • Go the FLIGHT CREW section and then select NEW CANDIDATE REGISTRATION
  • A screen pops up with Instructions. Read the Instructions CAREFULLY
  • Enter your personal details after reading and agreeing to information.
  • Verify your Phone Number and Email through OTP.

ProTip: Ensure the Phone Number and Email that you enter are valid and active. All communication from DGCA regarding examination, results and acceptance/ rejection of your Computer Number will happen on this Phone Number and Email

  • Set a Password

You now have a Login ID and Password. This will help you apply for a Computer Number.

Step 2

Login on the Pariksha DGCA website with your Login ID and Password. You can now start your Computer Number Application. Please ensure you fill in all the details with utmost caution. Spelling Errors are one of the most common causes of Application rejection.

If applying for a Private Pilot License only, you need to possess Class 10 Marksheet and Passing Certificate. Whereas, if you intend to apply for a Commercial Pilot License, you need a Marksheet and Passing Certificate of both, Class 10 and Class 12 for a Computer Number.

ProTip: You do not need to have a Computer Number for a Class 2 or Class 1 Medical Examination. They can be done without a Computer Number from a DGCA empanelled doctor.

Step 3

On the Upload Page, a candidate is required to upload soft copies (digital or scanned copies) of all the documents that support the information filled on the previous page. For example, one’s Class 10 Marksheet and Pass Certificate would prove the candidate has passed Grade 10 along with other information like Date of Birth and Name of Parents.

Make sure all the required supporting documents are within the prescribed document size limit specified on the website. One should also ensure that the reduction is document size does not blur or pixelate the uploads. Blurred uploads due to the reduction in size are a common cause of Application Rejection as the offices scrutinizing the documents at DGCA isn’t able to read them clearly.

Board Verification

Board Verification would be a term a candidate would come across in the upload section. Board Verification is done to ensure that your Statement of Marks (Marksheet) is not counterfeit and that you have successfully passed your Grade 10 and Grade 12 Examination with Physics, Math and English in Grade 12. Board Verification is a Certificate issued from your education board confirming that your Statement of Marks is genuine.

Board Verification for ICSE and CBSE is available online. Regional State Boards have their own method of Verification. Boards like Maharashtra State Board require a student to approach their Regional Board Office for Verification of Marksheets.

Step 4

Once you have submitted all the necessary information and uploaded all your documents in the prescribed size and in the correct order, a REVIEW page opens.

  1. Check the entire form at least twice.
  2. Check for Spelling errors.
  3. Ensure details filled match with your supporting documents.

Submit the form once you have cross-examined all the information.

Step 5

Print the submitted form and self-attested copies of all the supporting documents that you uploaded (like Aadhar Card, Marksheet, Passport etc.)

Board Verification Certificate has a DIFFERENT ATTESTATION PROCEDURE

  1. If the Board Verification is issued in the name of DGCA, it has to be sent in the same sealed form.
  2. If issued on YOUR NAME, you have to get it attested from a CLASS 1 GAZETTED OFFICER.
  3. If issued on YOUR FLYING SCHOOL’S NAME, It has to be attested by your CFO.

ProTip Candidates often FAIL their Computer Number Application when the Board Verification is issued in the name of DGCA as the envelope is sealed and its soft cope cannot be uploaded. Hence, it is advised that students ask the Board Office for a xerox or scan before sealing the envelope to also have a digital copy.

The printed form, along with the supporting documents must reach DGCA in 10 days of your online Application Submission.

That’s it!! A Computer Number will be issued to you in six to eight weeks subject to scrutinization by DGCA.
