Since childhood, we all have been attached to planes. Whenever we hear the plane flying in the sky we often used to get fascinated and run up to our terraces and watch the airplane fly by. DIDN’T WE ALL FEEL THE SAME TO BE ONE OF THE CREW MEMBERS OF THAT PLANE? YES, In this article I have written about aviation as a career.

The aviation sector is something cool and one of the most rewarding careers in the long run. It is also known as one of the best and high paying sectors in any part of the world. Since the world first flight in 1903, this sector has been under drastic change and continuously growing. Every year there are huge employment opportunities in this sector.

Now, you may be wondering how I could start my career in aviation?

EDUCATION,JOB ROLES AND SALARY TRENDS IN THE AVIATION INDUSTRY

A student can join this sector immediately after his higher secondary(PRE UNIVERSITY LEVEL) by enrolling on professional courses such as a bachelor or any diploma related to aviation

1. DIPLOMA IN AIRPORT MANAGEMENT

Diploma in airport management is a 2-year course which gives us the knowledge about the managerial roles and their aspects. It is more into management rather than technical. A student by his/he willingness can opt for a post-graduate diploma in airport management (PG-DIP)  can get into job roles such as Airport manager,  cargo manager, planning manager etc.

SALARY RANGE FOR FRESHER AT INDUSTRY LEVEL- 2-4.5LPA Indian rupee

2. B.B.A IN AIRPORT MANAGEMENT

It is a 3-year course. The course curriculum is such that it trains students to make a career in the administration departments of civil aviation. The job roles are Airport Staff, Airport manager, Safety officer or other staff roles. The graduates are expected to work under shifts and at major airports. A student can also for an MBA for future growth and salary hikes.

3.DIPLOMA IN AVIATION HOSPITALITY      

Diploma in Aviation hospitality is a 2-year course where the students are trained as Cabin crew, Ground staff or airport operations. Since hospitality is the focused sector in aviation, it requires skilled and trained professionals who can treat passengers with hospitality and care.

4. AERONAUTICAL/AEROSPACE ENGINEERING

It is a 4-year B.E/B.Tech course which completely deals in designing, manufacturing, and doing analysis testing on aircraft prototypes. In the 4-year course student also undergo experimental training which makes them industry-ready. Job roles include design engineer, CFD engineer, Research and development engineer, manufacturing engineer.

5. AIRCRAFT MAINTAINANCE ENGINEER(AME)

It is also called a LICENSED AIRCRAFT ENGINEER. It is a 2-year course after intermediate (10+2)  where the student is trained in maintenance repair and overhaul division. The student is given job training and is expected to play an important role in the safety and security of aircraft. They are responsible for solving issues faced in aircraft.

SALARY RANGE FOR FRESHER AT INDUSTRY LEVEL– 6-7LPA Indian rupee                                         

6. COMMERCIAL PILOT TRAINING

The pilot tag is as cool as it sounds but also one of the toughest jobs in the world. The pilot course can range from 16 months to approximately 35 months based on the students’ ability. The pilot undergoes training both ways that are theoretical and practical on the job training. A Commercial pilot license holder can work for both private and government entities.

A student can join the pilot course after intermediate (10+2) HAVING A BACKGROUND IN SCIENCE STREAM

An experienced pilot can be promoted to captain or also work as an instructor in the flight school.

7.AIR HOSTESS TRAINING (DIPLOMA)

An air hostess is responsible to maintain decorum during flight. It is one of the highly regarded posts in aviation for many young graduates.

The required qualification is intermediate to pursue a career as an air hostess. The course teaches you hospitality and services. The course duration can vary from 6 months to 1 year based on the training institute. After training the student can be employed in any of the airlines.
