BSc in Aviation from Mumbai University. The perfect undergraduate degree for pilots in 2022?

The University of Mumbai offers a Bachelor of Science in Aviation (BSc in Aviation) to student pilots. This degree provides students with a BSc degree on successful completion of their Commercial Pilot License training and is an ideal undergraduate option for aspiring pilots.

ELIGIBILITY

For a candidate to be eligible for admission to BSc in Aviation from Mumbai University, he/she should have met the following requirements:

  • Candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Standard XII) Examination with the subjects English, Physics and Mathematics,

OR

A candidate who has passed post grade X, Three-year Engineering / Technology diploma course with Mathematics and Physics,

OR

A candidate who has passed post-HSC diploma (one year after twelfth standard) of Maharashtra Board of Technical Education or AICTE approved or any other recognized Government body in Information Technology / Computer Technology / Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Electrical, Electronics & Video Engineering & allied branches / Mechanical & allied branches / Chemical & allied branches / Civil & allied branches.

  • B. Sc. In Aviation Degree is awarded to the student only after submitting verified Commercial Pilot License (obtained from DGCA / ICAO / FAA / JAR / CASA / TPT CANADA) to the examination section of the University of Mumbai.
  • For every 40 hours of flying done by the student, 4 credits will be given in each Semester. Students already holding a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) will be eligible for full credits in practical.

BSc AVIATION COURSE STRUCTURE

Students enrolled in BSc Aviation shall be examined in the following subjects in each Semester

Subject and Credits                                                                          

Navigation (General) – 5 Credits                             

Air Regulations – 3 Credits                                                      

Meteorology (General) – 3 Credits                                            

Aircraft & Engines (General) – 5 Credits                                   

Flying Experience / Flying Check – 4 Credits                              

20 Credits are awarded every semester, totalling 40 credits every academic year.

DURATION

BSc Aviation is a three-year degree by the University of Mumbai. However, students already possessing a Commercial Pilot’s License (issued by DGCA / ICAO / FAA / JAR / CASA / TPT CANADA) are eligible for direct admission to the second year of the three-year degree.

FEE STRUCTURE

The average fee structure in 2022 for BSc Aviation from Mumbai University is 65,000INR per academic year (equivalent to 2 Semesters). The fees are subject to an average 5 to 8 percent increase every academic year.
