Ministry of Civil Aviation


The Ministry of Civil Aviation is an Indian ministry responsible for Controlling civil aviation in India it makes national policies and regulations of Indian Aviation. Headquarters in New Delhi. Its functions also extend to overseeing airport facilities, air traffic services, and the carriage of passengers and goods by air. The ministry also administers the implementation of the Aircraft Act, 1934, Aircraft Rules, 1937, and is administratively responsible for the Commission of Railway Safety.
The ministry is under the charge of Union minister Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia and DR V.K.Singh is a minister of State

Directorate General of Civil Aviation

The Directorate General Of Civil Aviation is a statutory body of the Government of India to regulate Civil aviation in India. Its main function is to do investigation aviation Accident/incidents and maintain regulations and also issue licenses to pilots, aircraft engineers

Functions

1-Issuing the Airworthiness certificate to Civil aircraft registered in India

2- Licencing of Pilot, air traffic controllers, aircraft maintenance engineers, and flight engineers

3- Flexi use of Indian Aerospace for Civil Aviation and military

4-Keeping an eye on Aircraft noise and emission

The Government of India is planning to replace the organization with a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), modelled on the lines of the American FAA

The Airport Authority of India is a statutory body under DGCA It is basically responsible for the upgrading, Maintaining, Managing, and also creating a civil aviation airport in India

it provides Communication Navigation Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) services over Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas in AAI and PPP airport in India

5-Air Traffic Control Services

Bureau of Civil Aviation Security

Bureau of Civil Aviation Security is an office under the Ministry of civil aviation its main responsibility is to regulate Civil Aviation security in India

BCAS is the appropriate authority for the implementation of Annexure17 of ICAO (contains Standards and Recommended Practices concerned with the security of international air transport)

Functions

1-laying down Aviation Security Standards in accordance with Annex 17

2-Mock Exercise at the airport to check their Security standards

3- Dummy check or surprise check at Indian airport

4-Issuing AVSEC license in India

Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau

Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is a division under the Ministry of Civil Aviation which is responsible for Investigating aircraft accidents and incidents in India It was formed on 5 July 2012 earlier AAIB Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducted investigations and gave information to the investigations established by the Court of Inquiry

It has carried out more than 150 investigations of accidents and incidents Including Air India Express Flight 1344 from Dubai to Kozhikode happen in 2020

Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA)

The Airport Economic Regulatory Authority was founded on 12 May 2009, is a regulatory body that works under the Government of India Its main responsibility is to regulate The tariff and other expenditures & fees charged at major airports, It regulates tariffs and fees charged to airports and passengers and monitors the quality of service. It is a Statutory authority created under the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India Act (AERA), 2008.

It works in guidance with AERA Act 2008
