How Omicron can make an impact on Aviation Industry -2022?

Omicron is the new variant of Covid-19; There has been many ups and downs in the Aviation industry for the past 2 years. At times the market suffered huge losses and sometimes gave hopes to the airliners seeing the declining cases of Covid-19. Still, many queries remain about the current scenarios whether the Aviation sector would be able to revive or not?

Many experts say that the virus will not hit the domestic market but it will hit on the international market. International flights are a huge threat to the outbreak of the pandemic. The new variant Omicron which has been said to be first discovered in South Africa; The Omicron variant has been of major concern for the worldwide nations. This variant is now can be a huge threat to the Reviving Aviation Industry.

Everyone is giving their perspective about omicron but WHO has been warning since the arrival of the variant. This is now a huge challenge for the Indian Aviation industry as it has slowly begun to revive and it was on its way to returning to the Pre-pandemic condition. The new strain of covid-19 is highly transmissible and has become dominant in a matter of weeks, accounting for more than 70% of all new cases in the U.S. alone.

Domestic aviation suffered massive blows during the pandemic. After the second wave the Domestic Aviation market is seeing a surge in its profits and it may have a chance to return to its original levels during the pre-pandemic situation. The introduction of new AKASA airlines may make profits in the new financial year and promise a revival of the aviation industry. The wrath of Omicron can again coup the profits of the domestic aviation market.

On November 26, aviation regulator DGCA decided to restart scheduled commercial international flights to and from India from December 15. However, the decision was put on hold in less than a week in the wake of the emergence of Omicron, the new Covid variant. Last week, the watchdog said the flights will remain suspended till January 31. It is predicted that other countries recovery will stable the international aviation market.

The normalcy of the Covid-19 at the end of 2020 made manufacturers take contracts but if omicron appears, these things may go wrong. As it was reported that Akasa Airlines contracted for 77 Boeing-737 Max, it is also expected that Akasa airlines will start its operation by the second half of 2022. The emerging of Omicron might hamper the aircraft manufacturing industry and accordingly forbid the operation of new Airlines.

How to tackle the problem of Omicron?

The Indian government is taking measures to suppress rising cases of Omicron. Every big challenge brings resolutions. Proper precaution and action can take down the pandemic. Not only the government but also the citizens of India take responsibility for fighting the pandemic.

  • Following proper Covid protocols( wear mask and use hand sanitizers at regular intervals)
  • Keep a physical distance of at least 1 metre from others. 
  • Avoid poorly ventilated or crowded spaces.
  • Open windows to improve ventilation indoors.
  • The Vaccination drive has been going on in whole India, So it is advised that people vaccinate themselves.
  • Avoid any social gathering or unnecessary meeting.

On a positive note, it is said that the symptoms of Omicron are milder than the Delta variant. Still, WHO warns not to take this casually, proper guidance and following of Covid norms can minimize the spreading of covid-19. As per the aviation industry is concerned it is a reviving and never-ending industry, the opening of flights will give a chance to relax for the aspiring aviators. People who are making their careers in Aviation are very much looking forward to this financial year and, if we fight the omicron then the aviation market will again touch the skies.
