5 Ways Technology has revamped the aviation industry

Technology is the new shaper of the world! Who would have thought human beings would fly one day? none, although in 1488 Leonardo da Vinci drew flying machine considered to be the first aircraft design and it was converted to reality on December 17, 1903, by the Wright brothers, and here started the journey of aviation. Now aviation industry is among the largest industries and modern-day human beings first think of air travel while travelling long distances.

In this modern-day, we are surrounded by technologies starting from your mobile phone to fully automated systems like robots and modern-day machines. Aviation is dominated by data-driven technology and in this competitive aviation market data is playing a huge role starting from MROs, OEMs, airlines, passengers etc.

In this blog, I will give you a tour of 5 ways technology has revamped the aviation industry. To know the uses of AI in Aviation Click here. So, let us see the uses of technology in aviation:

1. Improved customer service

The very pinnacle comes the customer service. During early days when the communication between the company and customer was quite difficult but now in the modern-day aviation industry Artificial Intelligence has replaced the conventional communication methods with Chatbots which interact with us like a person and provides every facility available to the company, electronic payments, digital services helps a lot in the aviation industry.

In the modern world of customer service Data science and AI technology has taken over the conventional methods and thereby now we can interact with the Airline or authority from home.

2. Product design

The jobs of aircraft designers are eased by the programming designing methods and AI algorithms. The introduction of new technologies and new configurations of aircraft improves aerodynamic efficiency. The use of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) are easing the workload in many sectors and maybe in future, we might hope for “pilotless” flights. The 3-dimensional designing technology like CATIA by Dassault systems has revamped the designing method in aircraft designing.

3. Fuel Efficiency

It is the main driving factor for the increasing fares for the airlines. In a survey in the year 2019, it was seen 97 billion gallons. this can be improved by better aerodynamic efficiency and nowadays various companies fabricate lightweight parts with 3D printing technology. The development of sensing technology or simulators can improve fuel flow control and hence improve fuel efficiency. In fact, the introduction of the FADEC system also falls under this category as it has proved to be a fuel-saving technology for an Aircraft.

4. Efficient supply chain management

The increasing use of artificial intelligence has formed a streamlined aviation business. The use of automated technology increases supply and production. Automated data collection makes proficiency in supply chain management. Social Media is one of the technology used in supply chain management.

Social media is a popular technology that has swept the world. With over 288 million Twitter users and 1.23 billion Facebook users, it’s no wonder many businesses are turning to social media to gain visibility for their company. In fact, over 70 per cent of all Fortune 500 companies rely on social media as part of their marketing strategy and supply chain management.

5. Training

The use of technology has improved a lot of things which includes flight simulation. It helps to train better pilots, improvement of R&D communication has also been improvised and better communication between ground and pilot has been established. The use of indicators and warning systems and most importantly wireless connection helps improve the system functions and hence helps in better training.
